Where in Finland are you from?

From Helsinki.

How would you describe your band for those who don’t know you?

Club Merano is a group of 7 musicians from Helsinki, Finland influenced by progressive rock & psychedelic pop formed by Harri Väyrynen a.k.a Harpov and his son Sebastian Bisso Mifflin.

When did you form as a group?

In 2010.

What was the inspiration for your recent album?

During the composing process the inspirational trigger usually comes from various sources music, movies, art, nature, etc. and often from an inner connection, or simply from a weird silent moment in life when a comfortable state of mind has been reached. One must forget
himself and all thoughts to be the vessel of creation.

I have always been fascinated with a musical world without boundaries where sounds and elements can go together like in an “interstellar cuisine” of different spices and flavours. The love for enriched fusion possibilities in music made me choose the higher road by
being truthful to myself as an artist and produce the kind of music that I love the most.

You can find influences from psychedelic pop, progressive rock, oriental music, folk, etc., recorded in the spirit of the seventies. The most inspirational musical decade of all times, in my personal opinion.

Club Merano’s ‘High Road’ album was written and composed in the lakeside of southern Finland and partly in Portugal and Nepal so influences definately come as well from traveling through different cultures merged with my own personal music taste.

What other releases do you have?

‘High Road’ is the début album of Club Merano, with release date on 23rd of November 2011.

What is your favorite song on your most recent album?

Track no 10. “Thamel” which is composed together with my son, the bass-player Sebastian Bisso Mifflin, and for that reason is special.

Do you have any gigs coming up?

Yes, the album release show in December, Helsinki. Date will be posted on Club Merano Facebook profile later on.

What’s your favorite type of venue to play?

An intimate club event & festivals.

If you could play anywhere in the world this week, where would it be?

Woodstock. Coachella. Bonnaroo.

Do you have a Website, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter etc?

What are your influences as a band?

Progressive rock, psychedelic pop, oriental music, films, life, art, love, etc.

People who enjoy your music tend to like what other bands?

Pink Floyd, Yes, Kingston Wall, Von Hertzen Brothers, Radiohead, Pepe Deluxe, Todd Rundgren, Peter Gabriel, Cat Stevens, etc.

Are you signed to a label?

Yes. Exogenic Music Group.

Where do you think you’ll be as a band in 5 years?

Hopefully, we will be supporting ourselves with the work we love to do, being able to invest in better shows and create more albums.

Is there anything else people should know about Club Merano?

We rock as a live band.
