Where in Finland are you from?
We are from Ostrobothnia, a city called Seinäjoki, known of Provinssirock.
How would you describe your band for those who don’t know you?
MindMirror is a band combining elements from modern melodic metal and melancholic rock.
When did you form as a group?
In 2007. The current lineup took its form a bit later.
What was the inspiration for your recent album?
To release some good music and bring it to people’s awareness.
What other releases do you have?
Daily Dose is our debut EP, but we have two songs available for free download in the internet. Also a YouTube channel has been launched where you can see us in action.
What is your favorite song on your most recent album?
Of course we like them all! But if one has to choose a song, it has to be ‘Options’ because it really shakes your foundations. We actually almost fell on our asses when we heard the first version of the mixed song. We are referring especially to the second verse of the song, where our friend Ilkka (from Nicole) strengthens the vocals with some extra growls.
Do you have any gigs coming up?
We have a festival gig coming up in August. Later this year we are going to do a small tour with another local band called Liquid Society!
What’s your favorite type of venue to play?
Any place where you have a decent stage, mostly mid-sized bars. And of course an amazing atmosphere in the crowd.
If you could play anywhere in the world this week, where would it be?
Hartwall arena in Helsinki would be nice for starters. Also the main stage in Rytmikorjaamo (a concert venue in Seinäjoki) would be nice on a sold-out night and of course Provinssirock.
Do you have a Website, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter etc?
What are your influences as a band?
Almost everything in life, good music, news, books…Usually when we are writing new songs we try to write something that makes people think.
People who enjoy your music tend to like what other bands?
Sentenced, Thunderstone, Tarot, In Flames and Katatonia, or at least we like to think so.
Are you signed to a label?
Not yet but we keep our hopes high.
Where do you think you’ll be as a band in 5 years?
We’ll be a lot more experienced, we’ll have more material released, more gigs played, signed to a label and still facing new exciting challenges in the world of composing.
Is there anything else people should know about MindMirror?
Well, our debut EP called ‘Daily Dose’ will be available as a digital release some time soon. Until that, you can order a physical copy from Record Shop X. First review of the EP has just come out and it can be read here at Metalreviews.com.
