01/11: Rebound
Sometimes It’s Good To Be On The Rebound…

Rebound
Repa Nurmi alias Rebound Green became known as the upright bass player in energetic rock’n'roll band Melrose. When band hit the charts like a rocket in 1986, it had already been playing together and searching for a sound of their own for six long years.During the years from 1986 to 1990, the band, that consisted of drummer Jami, singer-guitarist Tokela and Repa, spent most of their time on the road. Melrose appeared on television, movies, festivals and clubs, made several tours in middle Europe and eventually a tour in UK. In four years they released three albums and four singles which received extraordinarily praising reviews and sold thousands of copies. Considering all this, it was surprising that Rebound decided to quit Melrose in August 1990.
“I was totally freaking out and my personal life was one big mess…” Rebound reminisces. He withdrew from publicity. Apart from a couple of band projects, he kept low profile during the most of the nineties.

“I was broke, homeless and in bad company…” Rebound laughs. But there was light in the end of the tunnel when nineties was coming to an end. Rebound got back his desire for music and for the first time ever, started writing his own material. “I’m not fast at writing songs, but I’m determined…I was writing songs and finally caught myself doing some demo recordings”.
In 2001 rebound started a band with his brother Lewis Green. The band , V-chips, rehearsed a lot but didn’t do many gigs. “The band kicked ass and songs were good, but it wasn’t enough” Rebound says.
The band lost their motivation after their Grandstander-debut album. Rebound had already plans ahead…” Well, I figured that if the Moses can’t come to the mountain, I’ll bring the mountain to Moses” Rebound describes the beginning of his solo project. He went to studio and started working with new material. He did dozens of songs, of which six finally made it to ‘Bullets’ mini cd.

“Old rock’n'roll and rockabilly have always been close to my heart. But I don’t want to copy my idols, I want to find a sound I can call my own. I want to be able to say what Elvis said: ‘I don’t sound like nobody’. I think that the groove, the feel and a unique sound are the most important ingredients in good music. I try to apply those elements in my music the best I can…
After Bullets session Repa started to think, that this would be cool with the band. So, he call old friend of his, drummer Tommy Rolex, and ask if he wants to become one part of Rebound. They started to train and recording new material. Single Bad-Cool-Love went great in rockabilly scene, but it was not a band for live gigs. So, Tommy told that he knows a talent bass player Aki Beisman and Aki told that he knows a talent guitar man Arthur Scott and BAM! The band called Rebound was born!

First album Highways, Backsides and Sideways come out in August 2009. It went good in rockabilly scene and it got great feedback from the press. Single License To Love and Walls Have Ears climbed on the Finnish Charts, but it was not the breakthrough for Rebound.
Rebound latest single White Trash Blues get the Rebound back in spot. It’s has became little by little a real underground classic! Thanks to Finnish big mainstream radio station, Radio Rock, who plays White Trash Blues in prime time.
So it could be the song which lifts Rebound in mainstream…
That’s all!
