11/10: Neglected Fear

Fear The Neglect, Neglect The Fear…

Neglected Fear

Neglected Fear

In December 2008, Jonathan joined up with Matias as the lead vocalist of the band that Matias was playing in. The band basically played cover songs for fun. Not long after Jonathan had joined, the band split up due to the drummer moving and their other guitarist had lost interest. This laid the foundation for Neglected Fear as Matias and Jonathan continued on together.

Jonathan Bjon - Vocals

The two soon became bored and came up with the brilliant idea to start recording songs with only their vocals and guitar. Thus came the song ‘Minor Epic Failure’ was created. After awhile, as the songs began to take shape, they decided they needed something to start something new and different. They asked Johan if he was interested in joining them as their bass player and without thinking, he said yes. Finding a drummer, on the other hand, was as easy. Drummers for this type of genre and in this region of Finland is quite hard to do. Either they’re not good enough or have no interest in playing hardcore. After much searching and looking around on the youth website that is popular there, in May 2009 they came across Ronny. It said on his page that his favorite band was Killswitch Engage so the they thought why not? They asked him to join and the final piece of the puzzle was found. In September 2009, the band their first rehearsal together and Neglected Fear was born.

In October 2009, they entered the studio to record ‘Die With A Smile’, ‘The Joker’, ‘Not A Day For Sunshine’ and ‘(SIC)’. That same week they had their first gig which was held at Jonathan’s house and they played to an audience of approximately 20 people. December of 2009 saw the band back in the studio to record more songs, ‘Confession’ and ‘Sadistic Thoughts’, but the band still wasn’t happy with the outcome. In June 2010, the band entered Test Music Studios in Vaasa to record again. They had entered a band competition and won the grand prize which was a 10 hour studio session. From this came the single ‘Until The End Of Time’.
