Where in Finland are you from?
From all around; Vaasa, Karjaa, Parainen, Janne’s originally from Stockholm, Sweden. We’re all residing in Helsinki now.
How would you describe your band for those who don’t know you?
The Nancy Wha is a bunch of friends who play rock music together. It is honest music, made by honest people. In our music, you hear enthusiasm, energy, excitement and love, ‘coz this is about passion, about working for something we truly believe in. It’s rock, it’s pop, it’s indie, performed stylishly with a punkish attitude.
When did you form as a group?
The band was formed in Vaasa, Finland, in the year of 2005 by four frustrated guys. Today we are 5 years older (not wiser), and have grown into a Helsinki-based quintet.
What was the inspiration for your recent album?
Coffee, beer and cigarettes, and maybe some other things, like red wine for instance. An open mind easily gets inspired.

The single Waltz of Shame/Dealers and Drunks
What is your favorite song on your most recent album?
It’s impossible to mention just one. None of the four songs would have ended up on the ep, if they weren’t favorites in some sense. They all have their places and moments.

Our influences come from a wide range; whether you like The Smiths/Morrissey, The Libertines, The Beatles, The Clash or The Strokes, there’s surely something for you in our music. Still, The Nancy Wha has created a style that can be described as nothing but The Nancy Wha.
