Where in Finland are you from?
Helsinki, capital of Finland
How would you describe your band for those who don’t know you?
An interesting mix of many genres. Melodic and catchy female-fronted metal, with a lot of interesting twists.
When did you form as a group?
In 2008. However, many of us have played together for many, many years. Guitarists Lauri and Mikael, and keyboardist Lari have played together since 2001.
What was the inspiration for your recent album?
We wrote the kind of music that felt right at that point. It can be hard to identify the exact reasons for your motivation and inspiration. It’s just usually a sum of what is currently happening in your life and how you feel overall when writing the music.
What other releases do you have?
Currently none. The ‘In Solitude’ EP is our first official release. Hopefully it doesn’t take long before we release more material!
What is your favorite song on your most recent album?
It’s really hard to say, I like them all in different ways. ‘Scorched’, in my opinion, is a very good mix of easy and catchy melodic lines combined with heavier and technical riffs, which I think is the trademark of Shear. But overall I like how they all turned out.
Do you have any gigs coming up?
We’re currently rehearsing for upcoming gigs. We’ve have a few shows booked already but definitely more to come!
What’s your favorite type of venue to play?
It depends. Festival gigs have their own positive vibe, but I personally prefer more clubs. The club environment is more intimate and you can sense how the audience is reacting to the music.
If you could play anywhere in the world this week, where would it be?
Despite my previous answer, I think I’ll need to say Rock in Rio. Never been there personally but from all I’ve heard it’s really wild. It would be awesome.

What are your influences as a band?

Can’t really name other similar bands but if you’re into melodic, yet progressive and technical metal, you’ve got to check us out!
Are you signed to a label?
Not yet, hopefully in the future.
Where do you think you’ll be as a band in 5 years?
Released several full-length albums and touring the world!
