Where In Finland Are You From?
We’re from Pieksämäki, in central part of Finland. Quite a devastating and somewhat depressing place, which of course inspires us to do dark shaded music. Gotham City, you know… 
How Would You Describe Your Band For Those Who Don’t Know You?
Dark Heavy Rock describes our sound and songs quite right. Our music is not metal music and has a lot of influences from older heavy rock bands. Still, there’s a twist of certain dark depths. The main things are still the songs and the music itself, quite simple, rocking songs with some catchy choruses and strong melodies.
When Did You Form As A Group?
The first incarnation of Gotham O.D saw the light of day in early 2003, but we started to work on the band more seriously on that same year’s summer. Ilkka and I are the only original members left, by the way. This present, and hopefully the final lineup, has been in this form a little over a year, one by one the right guys have come along. Now we’re happy with this lineup: All the guys are in somewhat the same disturbed mental state and we have a good musical chemistry.
What Was The Inspiration For Your Recent Album?
The songs in it were made in a relatively long period of time, so there’s quite many things that have given us inspiration. But, of course, there are the normal things: Religion, love, broken love, beauty, lust, frustration, depression, hangovers, nature, seasons, time, the fine line between darkness and light. Monochromatic is definitely not a concept album, but I hope there’s a certain line to be found artistically and musically. You just have to listen to it and find out for yourself!

What Is Your Favorite Song On Your Most Recent Album?
This is always a tricky one. I would have to say that it’s "My Day Of Reckoning", because it’s the most fun to play live nowadays. It was released also as a single, a faster song with great chorus.
Do You Have Any Gigs Coming Up?
Yes, of course, but mostly planned for the fall. In the summer we will concentrate more on writing new songs.
What’s Your Favorite Type Of Venue To Play?
Good rock clubs and rock festivals are our favorites, but we also aim to give our best to the audience no matter where we play.
If You Could Play Anywhere In The World This Week, Where Would It Be?
Japan would be great. It’s far away from home, Finnish bands are popular there, the audiences are amazing, and it would be awesome just to get to visit there. Take me there NOW, please!!

What Are Your Influences As A Band?
We have quite many different influences, because we listen to many different kinds of music. From sixties pop/rock to modern metal. This can be heard from our music as well, I think.
People Who Enjoy Your Music Tend To Like What Other Bands?
I would say that other Finnish bands such as HIM, Nightwish, Entwine, Charon, Poisonblack etc. Of course bands like Type O Negative, Black Sabbath, Ozzy and such can be found fro their playlists too.
Are You Signed To A Label?
Yes, we are. Finnish company Off Records Finland releases our music, Firebox Records distributes in Finland and SPV in Europe. Other distributors are also involved in other countries.
Where Do You Think You’ll Be As A Band In 5 Years?
In a mental institute, I think. No, I think we’re still making music and hopefully have evolved as a band. Releasing albums and touring here and there. This is what we love and want to do, so why stop it? I don’t think that we will be in Billboard’s Top 1, but it’s reasonable to think that we have a strong underground success though. But you’ll never know what will happen.
Is There Anything Else People Should Know About Gotham O.D?
Nothing specific, I think. Listen to the music, that’s the best way to get into our world. It’s all there you know, in the music and the lyrics. Love each other and enjoy your life!
