Jaani Peuhu, already a seasoned rock musician at a young age, wanted to do exactly what he wanted, without having to please anybody but himself. So he set about writing some songs which sounded more like the music in his head than the sounds of his previous bands. These songs went on to become the album ‘Nude’, Iconcrash’s first album which was released in the spring of 2005. Although the album had several guest musicians contributing to it, it was basically a solo album for Jaani. He wrote, produced and performed much of the album himself.
To perform the album live, Jaani needed musicians so he enlisted the help of his musician friends. They played dozens of shows internationally to support ‘Nude’ and during these shows, the talented musicians created their own interpretations of the album.
Nowadays, Iconcrash is a real band consisting of five people: Jaani Peuhu (Vocals), Anu Tukeva (Keyboards), Matti Toivonen (Guitar), Riku-Niilo Mattila (Bass) and Oskari Vilmunen (Drums).
Jaani says, "Doing it all by myself certainly had it’s appeal and benefits, I won’t deny that. However, now I felt like it was time to explore the benefits of having a real band, and with the current line-up, there are plenty. Now everybody’s ideas and input are welcome, and I honestly believe this makes our music better. To me, Iconcrash never felt like my solo project entirely, even if Nude was pretty much a solo effort. When we have been on the road, and even on our rehearsal place, it has always felt like a real band. But as far as studio work goes, there has been a major change, as it’s no longer just me doing everything."
Iconcrash has finished recording their second album called ‘Enochian Devices’ after a 14-month session at Dynasty Recording studios and Sonic Pump Studios. The first single, ‘Strange, Strange Dark Star’, with the video directed by Owe Linwall (The Rasmus, Amorphis, Nordman, Sturm Und Drang etc), is in your reach now! The album release date will be announced at a later date.
