05/09: Ever Since The Day
They Won’t Stay Silent Forever…
Ever Since The Day was formed between the spring of 2005 and the winter of 2006 in the vast cold regions of Finland. In the early days of the band, which consisted of Kari (Vocals/Guitar), Johannes (Guitar) and Jouni (Bass), they played acoustic cover songs in small events. But after 7 or 8 months, the guys searched for a drummer and found one in Ari. Now the the real work began and their own songs started to emerge.
Powerfully melodic choruses, dark and sometimes melancholic sounds characterize the band. However, they are not focused on being gloomy and as proof, they deliver a live set that is full of evergetic charge and action. Their first gig which consisted of all material that was entirely their own in June 2006. More gigs soon followed but the band was still looking for that chance to record a demo. In September 2006, that demo, ‘Through My Eyes’, was recorded and received more attention than they had been expecting.
The success of the demo is evidenced by the public achievements it has received. ‘Crash’ was elected as Demo Song Of The Week (Week 42) on Radio YleX by their listeners and a week later it rose to position #6 as Radio YleX’s Most Wanted list. Week #46 found them selected as Unsigned Band Of The Week by Radio X3M and Kari was interviewed for the show. Other achievements include Soundi magazine, tons of positive feedback on Mikseri.Net and global attention came when GarageBand.Com selected their track ‘Sanctuary’ as Track Of The Day (January 2, 2007).
Their live performance has received positive recognition as well. The placed 3rd in the Turku Bandstand competition out of a total of 44 bands. The band was also chosen to perform in Yle Radio X3M’s Svenska Talande Klubben broadcast on April 14, 2007 as a support act for the Swedish band Captain Murphy.
