07/08: Rain Diary
When Pouring Rain Becomes A Good Thing…

Rain Diary
The journey began in the beginning of 2007 when Teemu and Joni started to feel that their previous band, The Sonneth, was falling apart due to musical differences amongst the musicians: they had always found their strength in slow, deep, melancholic tunes from bands such as Anathema, Porcupine Tree, Placebo, Riverside etc.
Singer Tommi also faced the same problems with his band, SoulRelic, when they found themselves with motivational problems after their record deal with Spinefarm was put on hold. Joni knew Tommi from his Relic years, knew his goals and desires of what kind of music he dreamed to be involved with. The first rehearsals took place in February 2007 under the shades of candle light. They knew immediately that they had found something beautifully dark was evolving in their hands: For the first time in the seven years that Joni and Teemu had been playing together, they had finally found the perfect singer to interpret their feelings.
The fourth member to join the band was Teemu (bass), who brought a deeply needed root to their music. Topi (drummer) was also an old friend of theirs from their Lahti years. Topi had found himself in a similar situation with his band, Figure, where the music was in a transitional mood moving towards something that Topi wasn’t comfortable playing. When Tytti joined the band in the fall, their musical sphere went to even higher grounds because of her ethereal voice and skilled keyboards.
The family was born and named Rain Diary.
"We’ve always felt that when you are surrounded by people you love, the music will develop itself. It’s the best therapy one can find for all the aches of this everyday madness, escape from trivial worries, a heaven for desperate souls. If we manage to ease one’s pain while confronting our own, then we’ve found the reason to stay. There’s no complete remedy but at least a little comfort and a hideaway to a better place, an ideal home of care."
Nobody needs to be alone.
