05/08: Blinded Rain
A Way To Enlighten Your Senses…

Blinded Rain
Blinded Rain began in 2004 when Kaide found himself wondering what to do with the bunch of songs he had written. Songs that didn’t fit into the style of his existing band and after a few seconds of thinking, the answer was clear. It was time to do something new…The outcome was the first line-up of Blinded Rain (Kaide, Tapsu on drums, J. Partanen on bass) who recording the first Blinded Rain album "Time?" in the beginning of 2005 (released 10/14/2005).
The existing Blinded Rain line-up saw daylight in January 2006 (Leonard on drums, Günther on bass). The new line-up started rehearsing for gigs and played the 1st gig in Rock-Korjaamo Metal Fest in Mikkeli on August 8, 2006. Blinded Rain was also writing new material and noticed soon that the music was spontaneously moving to a bit heavier direction. The band was very satisfied with the new songs that arose and decided to enter the studio the next autumn for recording the Vampire MCD. Vampire was recorded at Sundicoop studio in Savonlinna in September/October 2006 and it was released on December 13, 2006. Vampire MCD contained 5 tracks:
1. Vampire
2. Insane
3. The Only Truth
4. Curtains Of Deceit
5. 1939
After the release, Blinded Rain played some gigs and started writing new material to their next release, a full-length album, "Destination Unknown". The band decided again to record the music in Sundicoop studio with Tuomo Valtonen. Recordings and mixing were ready in February 2008 and the album was mastered at Finnvox Studios by Mika Jussila. "Destination Unknown" was released on April 23, 2008 and the album-release gig took place at On The Rocks, a club in Helsinki, on the same day.
"Destination Unknown" possess just the right amount of dark melodies, heavy tones and deep vocals to quench anyone’s thirst for dark, melodic metal. From the underground industrial sounds of "Sandcastle Star" to the deep, melancholic sounds of "Queen Of Silence", this album is sure to leave you humming the lyrics long after the music has stopped.
It hasn’t dissappointed this Finnish Underground writer in the least bit…9€ well spent. My anticipation rode high with the upcoming release when finally the day had come: it was available for digital download. With my credit card in hand, I got it and wasted no time in playing it endlessly. Unlike some albums, this one didn’t leave me feeling like I just wasted my $$…if you don’t have it yet, what the f**k are waiting for??
