Crumbland

2001 marked the beginnings of Crumbland. After making a few demos, they sent one off to a band competition arranged by Radio Extreme. The song "The Earth" was entered and eventually won the competition. It got decent airplay and led to the self titled EP "The Earth ". It had 4 songs, 2 of which eventually made it’s way onto the debut album six years later. Enter Antti…

In 2002, they recorded another EP with producer Douglas Pashley from which the song "Slide" climbed to number one as the most played song on RadioMafia (now YleX). This led to interest in their music by record companies. By 2003, things started to come together for Crumbland despite the various band member replacements and a record deal with a major label falling through. Enter Pexi…

2004 saw the release of their first official radio single, "Feel You". The single was released by Warner/Chappell Music and led to the interest, once again, from record companies. In 2005, Teemu joined the band, completing the Crumbland lineup and bringing a much needed vocal harmony to the live sound. By the end of the year, Crumbland had signed with Terra Recordings and began recording their first full-length album "Should I Tell You?". The album uses 3 different producers, Niklas Nylund, Mikko Raita and Janne Riionheimo. It was a slow process to use multiple producers but it led to the band finding their sound. After a year and half, the album was finally released June 13, 2007. A long process indeed, but worth the wait.

If you haven’t listened yet, then you should. Crumbland delivers a Seattle style rock with deep melodies and lyrics that are straight to the point. What adds to the uniqueness of Crumbland is frontman Jontte Genberg’s extranordinary voice and charismatic persona. His passion for writing hit songs and energy while performing with the band is transferred to the audience. Crumbland delivers a vocal style reminiscent of Pearl Jam and riffs that hammer your soul like those of Temple Of The Dog. Just when you start to kick back and rock, along come songs like "Down" and "Go", stunning examples of Jontte’s unique vocals. There just isn’t a mediocre song to be found anywhere on this album. Do yourself a favor, listen to it and go buy it.
