Poor Fellas – April 2016
01 Screw Up
Rockin’ It Poor…
Poor Fellas is a rockabilly band from Savonlinna, Eastern-Finland. They are rockabilly band with new wave influences. They have strong influences from 50’s rockabilly but they have also pick up spices from other styles of pop music too. Poor Fellas plays covers from legends like Eddie Cochran, Brian Setzer, Buddy Holly and Crazy Cavan in their gigs but they also plays songs for example from Social Distortion and Foggy Mountain Rockers. And of course they have bunch of own songs and songs of their deput-EP ‘Living for Myself’ are all originals.
The history of the band dates back to fall 2013 when Åke and Olli started to play together and they played first gig about year later. Band was then only duo with guitar and double bass. Jarno joined to the band about month later with drums and later Kata also joined to the band with her gentle voice. Now they have made about 30 gigs during the last 18 months and they went first time to the studio in September 2015.
They released their first single ‘Baby Please Don’t Cry’ in November 2015 and second single ‘Screw Up’ was released about month later. ‘Living for Myself’ – EP was released end of January 2016. Songs of the EP have lot of sources of inspiration but they have few unifying factor. Songs are written and recorded with twinkle in the eye. That’s because creating music can’t be too serious. Poor Fellas thinks that their music makes people happy and what’s most important thing; those songs are still Rock’n’Roll!
‘Living for Myself’ – EP is only beginning, there’s much more to come! They hope that they can release an album some day and of course there will be lot of ‘Poor Fellas – gigs’ in future too and one wish is get first gig outside of Finland someday soon!
If this band is coming to your town don’t hesitate to go out and listen this rockabilly energy!!!
